Manufacture

OFP-Factory-010Ofp have two factories at their premises, each specialising in a different area of the business. We have a unit allocated for the manufacture of roof and floor cassettes and the storage of associated stock, incorporating 20 metre benches for all size and types of cassette and a purpose built cutting shed allowing simplicity of process.

This is supplemented by our purpose built ‘5 line facility’ specifically for the manufacture of internal, external and load bearing panels that constitute the Ofp wall build-up. The factory is driven by our Opti-master saw which individually cuts and marks our timber in order to both maximise accuracy and minimise wastage from the outset. This forms an important part of Ofp’s quality control system and ensures high standards of manufacture leading to ease of installation on site.

To clarify step-by-step:

  1. Sustainably sourced treated CLS timber is fed into the opti-master saw on a pre-designated program and cut, after which it is placed into individual compartments in our racking system in preparation for the assembly process.
  2. OSB boarding is cut from the same program as the panels and stored in individual portable racks ready for application to the external and party wall panels.
  3. The pre-cut timber is picked from the respective rack and assembled on the benches. Each panel is individually signed for by the operative responsible for it’s manufacture and 1 in 10 panels is checked as per TRADA guide-lines regarding quality assurance. OSB boarding is applied at this stage.
  4. The finished panel (with or without insulation) is stacked for ease of picking on site and to maximise delivery loads thus cutting down on transport requirements and minimising cost to the client and environmental impact of carriage
